Our Yarrabilba Community Centre (The Buzz) is looking for a reliable Cleaner to join our team and help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our Centre users, visitors and the wider community!
This is a part-time position working 15 hours per week, with the roster negotiable for the successful candidate. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has a strong eye for detail and can confidently manage their allocated cleaning duties independently.
About the role
As a Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene and presentation of the Centre across a range of facilities and spaces.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing scheduled daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly cleaning duties.
- Cleaning and maintaining toilets, kitchens, offices, floors, windows, surfaces, walls, mirrors, bins and other allocated areas.
- Ensuring facilities are consistently presented to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Following cleaning schedules, checklists, procedures and Safety Data Sheets.
- Using cleaning equipment and products safely and appropriately.
- Restocking bathroom, kitchen and facility supplies as required.
- Setting up and packing down rooms and hire spaces for programs, activities and events when required.
- Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, hazards, damage and equipment faults.
- Completing required cleaning and safety records accurately.
- Working around Centre bookings and activities to ensure cleaning is completed efficiently.
- Providing friendly and professional service to Centre users, visitors and the wider community.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Reliable, organised and punctual.
- Comfortable working independently and managing their time effectively.
- Detail-oriented and committed to high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Able to follow instructions, cleaning schedules and established procedures.
- Confident using cleaning equipment and products safely.
- Comfortable receiving feedback and making adjustments where required.
- Able to communicate appropriately with the Centre Coordinator and other team members.
- Physically capable of completing the requirements of the role,
- Previous experience in commercial cleaning, community facilities or a similar environment is desirable, but not essential.
You will need to:
- Possess, or be willing to obtain, a current Positive Notice Blue Card, as required for the role.
- Possess, or be willing to obtain, the relevant National and/or International Police Checks, as required.
- Complete YMCA induction and any required training.
- Demonstrate a commitment to workplace health and safety and maintaining a respectful, inclusive environment.
