Youth Worker - Wynnum Community Centre

We are recruiting for a Youth Worker to join our team on a casual basis at Wynnum Community Centre to support The Youth Holiday Activities Project.

Project Overview

The Youth Holiday Activities Project aims to provide meaningful, interest-based group activities for local high-school–aged young people during the school holiday periods. The project will engage young people in creative and skill-building activities while fostering social connection, wellbeing, and access to support.

About the Role

• Provide structured activities that encourage skill development and creative expression.
• Foster social connections between young people with shared interests.
• Ensure a supportive adult presence allowing for incidental conversations where emerging needs can be identified.
• Provide immediate support where appropriate and facilitate referrals to relevant internal and external services.
• Strengthen community engagement through collaboration with local volunteers and partner organisations.
• Oversee materials purchasing.
• Collect attendance data and participant feedback.

About You

• High level of verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• High level of proven youth program development skills.
• Proven ability to effectively manage own workload and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to manage conflict, complaints and any difficult situations which may arise.
• Willing and available to work flexible hours as determined by business requirements.
• Current First Aid and CPR qualifications.
• Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, a Police Check Certificate and positive notice Blue Card.
• Understanding and experience delivering evidence based practice (desirable).
