YMCA Community Centre at Wynnum is now seeking a dedicated Community Centre Coordinator to lead and support the exceptional team of staff and volunteers on a full time, permanent basis.

 

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

 

As the Community Centre Coordinator at YMCA Wynnum Community Hub, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our Community Support Program. Your responsibilities will include managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with the Department of Communities Management Agreement and relevant Laws and Regulations and fostering a spirit of community engagement and support.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Oversee and facilitate a universal point of access for individuals and families to obtain support and advocacy services, ensuring improved access to support services
  • Deliver resources, activities and events for the local community to promote social connectedness, build capacity within communities and create opportunities for individuals and community groups to participate positively in their community
  • Work closely with community members to improve liveability, resilience and cohesion in local communities, while increasing public awareness of the needs and issues experienced by vulnerable community members
  • Plan, write and deliver associated programs, services and events offered to participants through the operation of locally based programs
  • Regularly report on program outcomes and progress in accordance with the funding guidelines to the funding bodies
  • Form intentional relationships with participants, understanding their strengths, passions, interests and unmet needs, and support service planning for identified participants in line with organisational policies and practice, as well as funding guidelines
  • Provide direction and support to staff, volunteers, students on placement and program contractors to ensure that they are fulfilling their tasks appropriately and within the YMCA mission and values
  • Provide effective and efficient supervision and coaching to staff, students on placement and volunteers
  • Ensure that recruitment, appraisal and other P&C processes are in line with current YMCA standards

 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

 

The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to improving the lives of individuals and families in the wider community and capable of fostering a sense of belonging and connectedness within the community. Effective management skills, both in terms of organisation and leadership, are essential to guide our dedicated staff and volunteers.

 

  • Possess tertiary qualifications in human services, social work, behavioural sciences, or a related field, coupled with recent and demonstrated experience in working with vulnerable individuals and families
  • Exhibit proven skills in fostering community engagement and empowerment through inclusive processes
  • Showcase excellent negotiation, problem-solving, liaison and communication skills, including well-developed written and verbal abilities
  • Bring a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged community members, helping them realise their full potential in body, mind and spirit
  • Be adept at working harmoniously within a team environment, contributing to the development of individualised support and action plans for individuals and families. These plans should empower them to overcome challenges, seize opportunities and grow in capacity, fostering a sense of inclusivity and support
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • A current valid driver’s licence and willingness to drive to various locations as part of your role
  • Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, a National Police Check and positive notice Blue Card

 

 

REMUNERATION & BENEFITS

 

A salary commensurate with experience and qualifications will be offered to the successful candidate, plus the ability to salary package (up to $15,900pa).
