The Y Lifeguards enjoy keeping a close eye on our precious community members, often getting to know our members on a first-name basis. They are reliable, vigilant and always ready to jump in (literally!) if necessary. We are proud of our team – not only are they trained to rapidly and effectively respond to emergencies; they also identify and reduce potential risks.
Warwick Indoor Recreation and Aquatic Centre (WIRAC) is the community’s one-stop destination for family fitness, sports activities and quality swimming education. We capture the community spirit of Warwick by offering supportive, welcoming and fun programs for infants, children, teens, adults and seniors.
The Y is now seeking a Pool Lifeguard to join their dynamic and enthusiastic team on a casual basis located in Warwick, QLD.
ABOUT THE ROLE
A Pool Lifeguard will ensure a safe aquatic area by professionally supervising the pool, identifying potential risk factors and taking steps to reduce those risks.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Enforce and uphold all aquatic facility rules and guidelines to ensure patrons are not put at unnecessary risk and are protected from unruly behaviour and dangerous actions
- Administer First Aid/CPR to patrons if required
- Report and document any witnessed incidents or risks that occur across the facility
- Complete of all associated administration, reporting and follow-up
- Answer general enquiries and support our patrons to feel safe and welcome
- Conduct rostered pool tests and pool maintenance activities to ensure full compliance with legislative requirements and Health Department Regulations
- Diligently remain updated on all relevant facility, program and member information
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will have sound judgement of pool safety and be passionate about encouraging an active lifestyle in their local community. This candidate will also portray the below selection criteria:
- Hold a current Pool Lifeguard accreditation
- Experience working in a team environment
- Fantastic communication skills and a positive attitude
- Hold a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or be willing to obtain one
- Hold a current First Aid and CPR certification
