Assistant Manager Aquatics

About the Position

 

This position is responsible for assisting the Centre Manager to ensure the efficient and effective management of the Centre, as well as the highest standards of customer service within the Centre and the enhancement of the profitability and occupancy of the Centre. This position will maintain excellent working relationships with the shared service functions of YMCA, to ensure that the Centre is generating all possible revenue and operating in a cost effective and efficient manner.

 

Duties Include but not limited to:

  • Research, develop, implement and maintain innovative and quality community recreation and aquatic programs in accordance with the YMCA Mission Statement
  • Consult with local schools, community organisations, sporting groups and the public to identify opportunities for the Centre to meet local community needs and increase participation rates
  • Management of the entire facility with a strong focus on the aquatics programs and indoor pool patronage
  • Ensure water quality is maintained within industry guidelines and reporting requirements for Council;
  • Ensure learn to swim programs are delivered as per lesson plans
  • Assist the Centre manager in the optimal allocation of staff hours and rosters, in accordance with the applicable industry award and YMCA procedures
  • Assist the Centre Manager in conducting staff performance appraisals annually and provide on-going review and feedback to all staff on performance and behaviour

 

What you need to be successful

  • Extensive demonstrated industry experience managing a large commercial Leisure Centre;
  • Proven track record in staff supervision;
  • Pool Plant Operator certificate or willingness to obtain this
  • Pool Lifeguard certificate;
  • Current certification for First Aid and CPR;
  • Working knowledge of workplace health and safety and risk assessment;
  • Proven ability to develop and manage customer relationships;
  • Demonstrated results orientation, sound judgement and problem solving ability;
  • Strong organisational and time management skills;
  • Ability to handle, in a professional manner, queries, complaints and any difficult situations which may arise;
  • Proven commitment to delivering and improving the customer service experience;
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours as determined by business requirements;
  • Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, a positive notice Blue Card
