YMCA Vocational Schools provide adjusted education programs and vocational training to secondary students, who would benefit from an alternative learning environment. With campuses across Brisbane, the school supports students in their journey to employment. Students participate in programs dedicated to enhancing practical and personal skills, at a pace that encourages school attendance, engagement and confidence.
 

YMCA Vocational School: Senior Redlands Campus is recruiting a VET Coordinator on a Permanent, Part Time Basis located in Victoria Point, QLD.


ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of a VET Coordinator is focused on providing support services to vulnerable young people and adults strengthening their relationships with their families and support networks.

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Plan and facilitate employability programs to participants, and support the operation and delivery of vocational education and training
  • Assist in delivering associated programs, services and events offered to people
  • Supporting YMCA and RTO trainers in their delivering of academic and wellbeing programs to participants
  • Form intentional relationships with participants so that their strengths, passions, interests and unmet needs can be supported appropriately through the program


SELECTION CRITERIA

 

The ideal applicant will be looking for a challenge, have a passion for working with young people, a strong interest in the development of the holistic person. They will also have a commitment to a client-centred approach, creative and innovative youth work practise.

 

This candidate will also meet the following selection criteria:

  • Certificate IV in Career Development or similar qualification; or significant demonstrated experience in Youth Work and working toward the completion of the above certificate or similar
  • Significant demonstrated recent experience in working with young people who are at risk
  • Demonstrated ability to provide individualized support and action plans for young people that enable them to realize opportunities, and grow in academic and vocational capacity
  • Passion for giving disadvantaged people in our community a real opportunity to realise their potential in body, mind and spirit
