Y Schools Queensland Junior Redlands Campus are looking for passionate Relief Youth Workers (Classroom) on a Casual basis to support in our School based in Victoria Point.

 

About the role

 

As a Relief Youth Worker this role is based in the classroom and involves actively supporting teachers and students in the planning, delivery and enhancement of academic learning, wellbeing and vocational programs. Additionally, you will play a vital role in the support, case management and mentorship of disengaged students, fostering intentional relationships to identify and address their strengths, passions, interests and unmet needs.

 

What will my time look like?

 

  • Coordinate the delivery of the school’s pastoral care and community development program so that student wellbeing needs, and attendance targets are met
  • Plan and lead wellbeing programs to students
  • Support the delivery of vocational training programs offered to students
  • Form intentional relationships with young people so that their strengths, passions, interests and unmet needs can be supported appropriately through the operation of the school
  • Support our young people to know success!

Am I a good match?

 

  • Hold a Certificate IV or above in Youth Work, Community Services or other relevant qualification
  • Hold a Positive Notice Blue Card, or be willing to obtain
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with young people including the ability to communicate appropriately with young people and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • To plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive environment
  • Commitment to working with young people using the Strengths Approach and ability to demonstrate non-judgmental, empathic framework
