Our Y Lifeguards enjoy keeping a close eye on all our precious community members and often get to know our members by name. They're reliable and vigilant and always ready to jump in (literally) if necessary. We have plenty of heroes we're super proud of but it's not all reacting to emergencies, our Lifeguards are great at identifying potential risks - and taking steps to reduce those risks.


Gym, swim and play at our sparkling clean facility in the heart of the Redlands sporting precinct. With a fully-fitted 24/7 gym, gymnastics centre and aquatics centre for learn to swim and casual use, YMCA Victoria Point has something for the whole family!

The YMCA are recruiting a Pool Lifeguard to join their dynamic and enthusiastic team on a casual basis located in Victoria Point, QLD!


ABOUT THE ROLE

A Pool Lifeguard will be ensuring a safe aquatic area by professionally supervising the pool, identifying potential risk factors and taking steps to reduce those risks.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited too):

  • Enforce all aquatic facility rules and guidelines to ensure patrons are not put at risk unnecessarily and are protected from unruly behaviour and dangerous actions
  • Administer First Aid/CPR to patrons, if required.
  • Report and document any incidents or risks that occur you have witnessed across the facility
  • Completion of all associated administration tasks, reporting and follow-up
  • Answer patrons’ general enquiries and support them to feel safe and welcome.
  • Conduct rostered pool tests and pool maintenance activities to ensure full compliance with legislative requirements and Health Department Regulations
  • Diligently keep updated on all relevant facility, program and member information

 

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will have sound judgement and be passionate about pool safety. This candidate will also portray the below selection criteria:

 

  • Pool Lifeguard Award
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Positive Notice Blue Card; or willingness to obtain
  • First Aid & CPR; or willingness to obtain
