YMCA Queensland is a reputable and dynamic organisation dedicated to fostering holistic development in young individuals. With ten campuses across the state, YMCA Vocational Schools provide adjusted education programs and vocational training to secondary students who would benefit from an alternative learning environment, offering programs dedicated to enhancing practical and personal skills at a pace that encourages attendance, engagement and confidence.

 

With a rich history of providing quality education and care to children and young people, we are currently seeking an experienced and visionary leader to fill the pivotal role of Head of Campus.  Experience, cultural fit and mutual preference will determine whether the successful candidate will be based at our Redlands Senior or Junior Campus, located at Victoria Point, QLD.  

 

 

ABOUT YOU

 

As the Head of Campus, you will be entrusted with shaping the strategic direction of the school, while also effectively managing the day-to-day operations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional education and care, while the safeguarding of children is maintained at the forefront of all endeavors. This role demands a perfect blend of strategic thinking, financial acumen, personnel leadership and a passion for education.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan that aligns with YMCA Queensland's educational vision and values
  • Support the delivery of school improvement processes with respect to academic, wellbeing and vocational pillars and the subsequent development of related policies, procedures and practices
  • Oversee the efficient day-to-day operations of the campus, supporting the Principal in ensuring high-quality vocational educational programs, student welfare, and engagement
  • Provide visionary leadership to teaching and administrative staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrate a deep commitment to safeguarding children by implementing and upholding rigorous child protection policies and procedures
  • Manage financial resources effectively, overseeing budgeting, financial reporting and funding allocation to ensure sustainable growth and development
  • Lead professional development initiatives for staff, nurturing a culture of ongoing learning, growth and excellence
  • Oversee the delivery of wellbeing and academic programs through each of their development phases: concept, design, commissioning and reporting
  • Take charge of human resources management, including recruitment, staff performance evaluation, professional development plans and fostering a positive work environment
  • Build and manage effective relationships and communication with parents and the wider community

 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

 

  • A strong educational background coupled with current Registered Teaching Qualifications, Post Graduate qualifications in Education and/or Educational Leadership
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a secondary educational setting, preferably as a Head of School or Principal
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial management, budgeting and funding allocation within an educational context
  • Demonstrated expertise in professional development strategies and implementation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the educational challenges facing disengaged young people and the ability to form innovative methods required to help them achieve successful wellbeing, academic and vocational outcomes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students including the use of appropriate interpersonal skills and the ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive learning environment
  • A genuine commitment to safeguarding children and creating a safe and nurturing environment for all students
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills

 

 

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS

A salary commensurate with experience and qualifications will be offered to the successful candidate, plus the ability to salary package (up to $15,900pa).
