YMCA Victoria Point are recruiting committed Duty Manager (Lifeguard) on a Permanent Part-Time basis to join our team located in Victoria Point
About the role
As a Duty Manager - lifeguard with the Y, this role plays a critical part in maintaining high service standards across customer service, aquatic operations, lifeguarding, cleaning, and learn-to-swim programs. You will have an increased focus on overseeing aquatic operations, including rostering staff and approving timesheets, pool plant maintenance, WH&S, lifeguard training and development including onboarding new staff. You will be responsible for supporting the Centre Manager in the day-to-day operations of the facility.
What will my time look like?
- Provide effective communication contact for staff in the absence of the Centre Manager in pool related issues
- Supervise and support staff across fitness, aquatic, and recreational
- Prepare and manage rosters for lifeguard staff, ensuring adequate coverage
- Provide hands-on support in areas such as pool supervision, aquatic programs, customer service desk, and general operations
- Provide support, mentorship, training and guidance for all staff
- Ensure the facility is clean, safe, and compliant with YMCA and industry standards.
Am I a good match?
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, ideally in a fitness, aquatic, or recreational setting
- Experience in staff rostering and timesheet approval is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, particularly during the pool season.
- A passion for community wellbeing and the values of the YMCA
- Current Lifeguard certification
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Current National Police Check and positive notice Blue Card in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000
- Achievement of YMCA’s Safeguarding Children Training Certificate and complete annual refresher training
