The YMCA Op Shop is part of our Social Impact strategy to enhance training opportunities for young people and help raise revenue streams for charitable purposes. The YMCA Op Shop also operates to provide a safe and friendly work environment for volunteers and assist the needy.

 

We are now looking for a Store Supervisor on a Full-Time basis at our Op Shop located at Upper Mt Gravatt.  The goal is to supervise and support the training of students, meet community needs, meet sales targets and develop the business to satisfy each of the aforementioned goals.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

 

  • Overall daily retail operations, in conjunction with the Store Manager
  • Supervise junior staff and provide them with guidance in reflection of YMCA policies and procedures
  • Maintain store cleanliness, security and stock management
  • Assisting the Store Manager with customer attraction strategies, pricing, stock integrity and staff training
  • Merchandising activities and in-store promotional events/ displays
  • Assistance in rostering, recruitment, onboarding new staff and continuous support/ mentoring to new and existing staff
  • Prepare work placement activities as per the vocational training schedule for YMCA Social Impact beneficiaries undertaking certificate-based training in retail
  • Manage customer complaints and grievances in accordance to the YMCA policies and procedures
  • Monitor, review and manage store budgets in conjunction with Store Manager’s leadership
  • Processing invoices and maintain cash register float

 

 

 

 

AS A SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT YOU WILL HAVE:

 

  • Relevant qualifications in retail services coupled with relevant and successful retail experience (preferably fashion)
  • Demonstrated previous experience in a store management role
  • Previous experience managing a team including an ability to motivate others
  • Demonstrated sales experience and effective sales techniques
  • High level of computer literacy including experience using POS systems and Microsoft applications
  • A passion for all things pre-loved and second-hand and an understanding of sustainable living
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A real passion for delivering incredible customer service
  • Strong visual merchandising skills
  • An eye for detail and demonstrated strong organisational and time management skills
  •  Current First Aid and CPR Certificates or willingness to obtain
  • Possess or willingness to obtain a Blue Card and a National Criminal History check prior to commencement of employment
