As a Shop Assistant, you'll play an important role in delivering a welcoming customer experience while helping generate funds that directly support programs such as Breakfast in Schools and other community initiatives.

About the role

As a Casual Shop Assistant, you'll help ensure the day-to-day operations of our Op Shop run smoothly. From serving customers to sorting and pricing donations, every shift contributes to supporting our charitable programs and creating a positive shopping experience for our community.

No two days are the same, making this the perfect role for someone who enjoys variety, working with people and being part of a purpose-driven organisation.

Key responsibilities

You will:

• Deliver friendly, engaging customer service
• Process sales through our point of sale system, including cash and EFTPOS transactions
• Sort, clean, price and merchandise donated goods
• Maintain an organised, safe and visually appealing store
• Rotate stock and assist with inventory presentation
• Support volunteers and contribute to a positive team culture
• Respond to customer enquiries professionally and respectfully
• Assist with banking and general store operations when required

About you

You'll be someone who:

• Has previous retail or customer service experience (preferred)
• Enjoys working with people from all walks of life
• Is reliable, organised and able to work independently
• Takes pride in maintaining high presentation standards
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Works collaboratively within a team environment
• Demonstrates honesty, integrity and accountability
• Shares our commitment to inclusion, diversity and community impact

What you'll bring

• Previous retail experience (desirable)
• Confidence using point of sale systems or willingness to learn
• A positive, can-do attitude
• A willingness to obtain (or currently hold) a Blue Card
• Ability to complete a National Police Check prior to commencement
