The Y Queensland’s childcare services has been at the heart of Australian communities for more than 40 years, with our first early learning service opening in Brisbane in 1977 after we identified the need for childcare that focused on helping children grow in body, mind and spirit.

 

YMCA Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) provides fun, stimulating and safe care for primary and secondary school children before and after school. At OSHC, children have the opportunity to participate in cooking, sport, music, art, dance and so much more.

 

 

We are now seeking Relief Coordinators on a casual basis to support our existing OSHC services with their daily needs and set-up support for new services across our North Brisbane region.

 

This opportunity is a unique role that will allow you to work collaboratively with different services.

Our YMCA services play, connect and learn on Yugambeh land and we are very proud to be a part of more than 50 different schools based across Brisbane, Toowoomba, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast.

 

Your Key Responsibilities in this position will include:  

 

  • The day to day operational aspects of the service including the provision of high-quality child care;
  • Management of budgets;
  • Supervision of staff;
  • Liaison with parents and other key stakeholders;
  • Ensuring compliance with Licensing and Accreditation Standards. 

 

The successful candidate will be able to meet the following Selection Criteria:  

 

  • A tertiary qualification in Community, Child Care, Teaching, Disability or equivalent or Certificate III in Children’s Services and/or relevant experience and/or working towards a suitable qualification;
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the coordination and delivery of high-quality children’s services;
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary child care and early learning practices and issues, including Licensing and Accreditation Standards;
  • Understanding of operational management including budgeting, staffing ratio’s, occupancy levels and asset management;
  • Ability to work in a team and to exercise tact, discretion and sound judgement and embrace collaborative learning practices;
  • High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Computer competency in utilising child care management software and MS Office;
  • Current and valid open Driver’s Licence;
  • Must have own transport and be flexible and able to travel to various YMCA owned OSHC sites;
  • Current certification for First Aid, CPR, Asthma Management and Anaphylaxis Management;
  • Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, a positive notice Blue Card in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000;
  • Achievement of YMCA’s Safeguarding Children Training Certificate and complete annual refresher training.

As an OSHC Relief Coordinator you will assist with: 

 

  • The development of quality programs;
  • Manage the day to day running of the programs;
  • Support the Coordinator with staff management;
  • Ensure compliance with policy;
  • Undertake administrative requirements;
  • Work collaboratively with families and the school community.

 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA: 

 

  • Completed (or close to completion) of relevant qualifications in Childcare or Teaching (Minimum of Diploma in Children Services);
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting with programming and a passion for providing quality childcare;
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining effective administration and correct documentation in an OSHC service;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain;
  • Certificate of Suitability to work with Children and Young People (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain.
  • NQF knowledge would be advantageous.
