An exciting role is available for an experienced Business Development Manager to use their expertise and skills to grow our presence in the OSHC market and to seek out business opportunities. This highly autonomous position is an essential role to ensure our continued business success and reports directly to the Children’s Services Manager. This strategic role is responsible for proactively procuring new business relationships within schools and the achievement of the continued expansion of the YMCA OSHC services in Queensland.
This is a full-time position, working 38 hours per week.
Your Key Responsibilities in this role will be:
- The development and implementation of a strategic business plan that identifies new opportunities for the successful expansion of the YMCA OSHC services;
- The building and development of successful relationships with schools, through networking with industry partners and targeted stakeholders, that positions the YMCA for new business opportunities;
- The successful acquisition of commercially viable OSHC sites to achieve growth targets and increase market share.
- Retention of existing services
- Oversee Communications and Children’s Services Marketing
- Manage a current team of three and contribute to workforce planning strategies
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Business Development Manager provides leadership, direction and action in developing existing and new business opportunities.
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the process and managing a team that requires acquisition of new OSHC services, and to support the retention of existing OSHC services. They will increase participation and growth in line with Business Plan objectives. This is a combination sales /tendering/ marketing position servicing the needs of the OSHC Program Area.
This position incorporates a strong sales element, which involves the development and implementation of an effective electronic, paper and face to face sales system to achieve growth targets set by the Children’s Services Manager. Effective follow up on enquiries and leads will be essential.
The role requires the administration and management of a range of responsibilities. These include; Business and Contract management, research and data management, , networking, media / profile enhancement, grants / submissions administrative requirements.
You are required to contribute to relevant discussions, meetings, training, decision making and problem solving of issues on a regular and continuing basis. We expect you to show initiative and to challenge what we do, not only for the betterment of your personal and professional development, but for that of the organisation.
The position requires the administration and management of services, programs, facilities and procedures related to your area of work. You are required to work with a range of staff to meet the goals and objectives of both Management and your area.
You have the ultimate ability to contribute, develop and improve your own work performance and guide your direction within the organisation.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and managing new business opportunities resulting in increased market share and growth;
- Demonstrated ability to successfully research, develop and manage tenders (preferably in site acquisitions);
- Proven exceptional relationship management and account management skills (business to business);
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Professional negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels;
- Positive working with children check / Blue Card (essential);
- Industry experience in OSHC, Childcare or Education (desirable)
- High level of oral and written communication and possessing a high attention to detail;
- Experience in Tender/ Submission development
- Experience representing organisation in media, corporate and community activities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum direction and as part of a team;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality;
- The ability to organize, multitask and prioritize
- Ability to self-motivate and work autonomously
- Initiative and be solutions focused with good time management skills
- Sound knowledge of computer systems including an ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of programs with particular focus on formatting word documents;
- Professionally presented;
- Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, a positive notice Blue Card in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000;
- Achievement of YMCA’s Safeguarding Children Training Certificate and complete annual refresher training.
