We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Playgroup Attendant on a 12 month Fixed Term Part Time basis for 12 hours per week (Tuesday to Thursday, 8am to 12pm) at our YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre. 

 

About the role

This position supports the planning, delivery and evaluation of playgroups for children aged 0-5 years and school holiday programs for children aged 3-12 years. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood development, community engagement, and have a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young children and their families. Experience working with children is highly valued.

 

What will my time look like?

  • Assist with the planning and delivery of children’s programs including but not limited to, playgroup, mums and bubs group, school holiday activities and celebration day and week events;
  • Help design age appropriate activities that encourage healthy parent-child interaction and developmentally appropriate activities
  • Set up, pack down and maintain play and learning environments;
  • Promote and advertise all activities within the local community via facebook, emails and instagram;
  • Work within established risk assessment processes and adhere to YMCA Risk Assessments for all activities and programs in consultation with YMCA Workplace Health and Safety;
  • Foster social connection among participants and encourage positive peer interactions;
  • Assist with attendance records, memberships, Humanitix bookings, emails and basic data entry
  • Provide feedback to the centre manager to support quality improvement.

 

About You

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and engage with children, families, and community members.
  • Experience in program development and delivery for children and families, particularly in early childhood or school-aged care.
  • A commitment to creating inclusive and safe environments for all participants.
  • Organisational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and over School Holidays.
  • First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • A current Blue Card and Police Check, or willingness to obtain.
