The Y Queensland’s childcare services has been at the heart of Australian communities for more than 40 years, with our first early learning service opening in Brisbane in 1977 after we identified the need for childcare that focused on helping children grow in body, mind and spirit.

YMCA Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) provides fun, stimulating and safe care for primary and secondary school children before and after school. At OSHC, children have the opportunity to participate in cooking, sport, music, art, dance and so much more.

YMCA Shailer Park Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Service is located at the Shailer Park State School.  The service is licensed for 70 children per day and operates from 6:30 am to 8:30 am in the morning and 3pm to 6pm in the afternoon during school terms.  We also operation during school holidays for Vacation Care (6:30am to 6pm).

Our service offers a wide range of fun, stimulating and diverse programs that reflect real world experiences and home settings. This helps encourage a sense of community amongst our children, facilitates leadership skill development and allows children to practice social skills in a supported and caring environment.

Programs and activities are aligned with the YMCA Mission – to provide opportunities for children to grow in body, mind and spirit – underpinned by our values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. We blend this philosophy with the National Quality Framework ‘My Time Our Place’ and Wooloowin State School’s educational principles to develop appropriate, engaging and most of all FUN activities for your child whilst in our care.

Our Educators escort Prep children to and from their classrooms, as well as all children to and from extra-curricular activities. We provide nutritious breakfasts and afternoon teas (morning tea also included during Vacation Care) that align with the Nutrition Australia guidelines.
