The Y Schools Senior Brisbane South Campus are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Teacher to join our team on a Full time, Permanent basis based in Parkinson

 

ABOUT YOU 

 

As a Teacher, you will become a part of this proud legacy of vocational education. Your role will encompass not only delivering exceptional academic and wellbeing programs but also supporting the implementation of vocational training initiatives. Key Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver engaging and effective academic lessons that draw from both traditional pedagogy and innovative vocational training approaches 

  • Implement holistic wellbeing programs that reflect the YMCA's long-standing focus on nurturing the overall health and wellbeing of students 

  • Assist in the delivery of vocational training programs, building upon the foundation laid by YMCA's history of practical education 

  • Collaborate with the Head of School and Head of Curriculum and Wellbeing Manager to ensure the effective operation of the campus and the continuation of YMCA's commitment to holistic education 

  • Plan, prepare and deliver quality and effective teaching and learning programs which are consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers incorporating relevant syllabi, curriculum policies, work programs and educational trends 

  • Organise and participate in parent/carer – student/teacher meetings to share updates on student progress 

  • Contribute to the maintenance of student records, case management, the collection of samples of work and reporting on the student performance as per the school’s policies and procedures 

  • Liaise with other staff, parents/carers and external stakeholders concerning the educational, social and emotional status of students, including management of their learning, pastoral care and vocational pathways 

 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA 

  • Hold a relevant University degree and current Queensland College of Teachers Registration  

  • First Aid Certificate and CPR Qualifications (desirable) 

  • Proven ability to connect with and support disengaged and high-risk students 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills that align with YMCA's history of fostering community and inclusivity 

  • Passion for holistic education and the ability to integrate academic, wellbeing, and vocational principles 

  • Commitment to upholding YMCA values and mission 

  • Previous experience in delivering vocational training programs is advantageous
