THE OPPORTUNITY 

 

The School is a "Special Assistance School" and offers courses assisting disengaged students in having a Real Opportunity to achieve their full potential through positive educational studies, activities and outcomes.

We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced Youth Worker to deliver student support, well-being programs and lead pastoral care for our students during school hours. 

You will work in a multidisciplinary team, including other Youth Workers, a Senior Youth Worker, Teachers, Counsellors and Case Workers, to achieve the best outcomes for our students. 

 

This is a contract position for 1 Term with ongoing casual work, based at our Mango Hill Campus. In this position you will be working 38 hours per week for the 1 Term contract. 

 
THE PERSON 

 

The ideal applicant will be looking for a challenge, have a passion for working with young people, a strong interest in the development of the holistic person, a personal interest in health, spirituality, personal well-being and value ongoing professional development.

More specifically you will be able to meet the following key selection criteria:


•    Hold a Certificate IV or above in Youth Work or other relevant tertiary qualification;
•    Demonstrated relevant recent practical experience in providing program delivery, education support services and case management to marginalised young people;
•    Work successfully in a small team and within the school's philosophy and ethos;
•    Demonstrated recent experience in providing colleagues with mentoring and support in youth work practice;
•    Be able to demonstrate the importance of following procedures and ensuring a safe educational environment at all times;
•    Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
•    Hold or be willing to obtain a current Blue Card.
