We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Coordinator to join our team YMCA Merrimac Outside School Hours Care (OSHC).

 

This is a fixed term (12 months), part-time position. Your working hours per week will be 34.5 hours during school term and 38 hours during vacation care time.

 

In this position, you will assist the Service Coordinator with the day-to-day running of the service and management of a team of Educators. You will receive support from a dedicated management team, consisting of the Coordinator, Senior Coordinator Area Coordinator, Regional Manager and the OSHC Manager.

YMCA Merrimac Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) is situated within the vibrant surroundings of Merrimac State School. The School has a wonderful history, dating well over 100 years, and together with the Centre creates a natural, country-based atmosphere. We offer Before & After School Care, as well as Vacation Care for Families of Merrimac State School and the wider Gold Coast Community.

 

Our program offers our children the opportunity for both indoor and outdoor activities, which we incorporate into our numerous play spaces, including playgrounds, sandpits, tennis court, indoor and shaded multipurpose spaces, our Rec Room and uniquely…the original “Old School Building”.

 

With Care and experience a high priority for YMCA Merrimac OSHC, we have amazing and dedicated Educators who take pride in the exciting times our Children are provided. Our Team either hold or are soon to complete Qualifications in Early Childhood, with the Majority holding Diplomas or working towards their Education Degrees.

 

Our Centre Coordinator has been at the service for 20 years and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise from the childcare industry. All Educators hold a positive blue card, with the Centre always having staff on site qualified in first aid and CPR training.

As an OSHC Assistant Coordinator you will assist with:

 

  • The development of quality programs;
  • Manage the day to day running of the programs;
  • Support the Coordinator with staff management;
  • Ensure compliance with policy;
  • Undertake administrative requirements;
  • Work collaboratively with families and the school community.

 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

  • Completed (or close to completion) of relevant qualifications in Childcare or Teaching (Minimum of Diploma in Children Services);
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting with programming and a passion for providing quality childcare;
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining effective administration and correct documentation in an OSHC service;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain;
  • Certificate of Suitability to work with Children and Young People (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain.
  • NQF knowledge would be advantageous.
