We are recruiting a VET Coordinator on a permanent, full-time basis for the YMCA Senior Logan Campus.
 


ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of VET Coordinator primarily focused on supporting the VET Lead with the facilitation of vocational and education training to vulnerable young people. This will be achieved through maintaining the administrative requirements of VET programs, overseeing delivery of programs by external providers, facilitating VET classes and working with students (both individually and in class) to encourage their VET participation and progress.

You will also be required to:

  • Facilitate job pathway activities and programs to students
  • Support the delivery of vocational and wellbeing programs to students
  • Build and maintain impactful relationships with students so that their strengths, passions, interests and wellbeing needs can be supported appropriately through the program
  • Provide assistance to RTO trainers in the delivery of academic and wellbeing programs
  • Assist students to interpret information that informs career development and job creation
  • Ensure resource material utilised for career development education is current and accurate
  • Plan and provide appropriate programming designed to promote student acquisition of employability skills and their career development, or facilitate programs provided by the Y Vocational Schools Program for this purpose
  • Monitor and collect VET Data for reporting

 


SELECTION CRITERIA

The ideal applicant will hold a genuine passion for assisting young people in understanding their full potential, regardless of their background or individual circumstances. You will thrive in the knowledge that your guidance can impact young people to recognise their true value in a holistic sense and gain fulfilment from seeing them grow into young, empowered adults.

This candidate will also meet the following selection criteria:

  • Certificate IV in Career Development or similar qualification; or significant demonstrated experience in Youth Work (plus working toward the completion of the above certificate or similar)
  • Significant demonstrated experience in working with young people who are at risk
  • Demonstrated ability to provide individualized support and action plans for young people that enable them to realise opportunities and grow in an academic and vocational capacity
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the current labour market, employability skills and acquisition strategies, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate these to young people
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to provide high quality reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong, effective relationships with diverse groups
  • Hold a Positive Notice Blue Card, or be willing to obtain
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate, or willingness to obtain them

 

 

REMUNERATION & BENEFITS

A salary commensurate with experience and qualifications will be offered to the successful candidate, plus the ability to salary package (up to $15,900pa).
