The gig

Our Y Lifeguards enjoy keeping a close eye on all our precious community members and often get to know our members by name. They’re reliable and vigilant and always ready to jump in (literally) if necessary. We have plenty of heroes we’re super proud of but it’s not all reacting to emergencies, our Lifeguards are great at identifying potential risks - and taking steps to reduce those risks.

The role involves:

  • Engaging customer service
  • Supervising the pool and identifying and reducing potential risks
  • Maintaining all qualifications required for this position
  • Administering first aid as required

Gardens Point Fitness and Aquatic hosts one of the only inner city pools available in Brisbane. Our state of the art 50-metre Olympic swimming pool is ideal for those who swim casually, those who enjoy hardcore training and those who are learning to swim.

The need-to-haves

  • Lifeguard Certificate
  • A passion for customer service 
  • Friendly and approachable manner
  • Love of the water
  • Calm and quick thinker under pressure
  • The desire to learn and grow
  • Current certification for First Aid and CPR or willingness to get one

 

The good-to-haves

  • Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, a National Police Check and positive notice Blue Card in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000
