The Y Queensland’s childcare services has been at the heart of Australian communities for more than 40 years, with our first early learning service opening in Brisbane in 1977 after we identified the need for childcare that focused on helping children grow in body, mind and spirit.

 

YMCA Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) provides fun, stimulating and safe care for primary and secondary school children before and after school. At OSHC, children have the opportunity to participate in cooking, sport, music, art, dance and so much more.
 

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Coordinator to join our team at YMCA Grovely Outside School Hours Care (OSHC).

 

This is a permanent, part-time position. Your working hours per week will be 34.5 hours during school term and 38 hours during vacation care time.

 

In this position, you will assist the Service Coordinator with the day-to-day running of the service and management of a team of Educators. You will receive support from a dedicated management team, consisting of the Coordinator, Senior Coordinator Area Coordinator, Regional Manager and the OSHC Manager.

YMCA Grovely OSHC is situated at Grovely State Primary School, licenced for 70 children and offer Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care between 6.30am- 6pm.

 

Here at YMCA OSHC Grovely, We strive to plan and implement a program that supports children’s well-being, development and learning. We offer a range of areas for the children to learn in. Some of these areas are Imagination Station, Arts & Crafts, Cooking, Music & movement, Group learning, Spontaneous play, indoor play, outdoor play, loose parts play and more. All program ideas come from you! Yes you the parent/guardian, you the child, you the community, you the educator and you the school. We get these ideas through our observations, evaluation, suggestions and teachable moments. Our program plans and activities are aligned with the YMCA mission statement, YMCA Philosophy and our own service philosophy as well with the National Quality Framework ‘My Time Our Place’ educational principles to develop appropriate and engaging activities for children in our care.

 

As an OSHC Assistant Coordinator you will assist with:

 

  • The development of quality programs;
  • Manage the day to day running of the programs;
  • Support the Coordinator with staff management;
  • Ensure compliance with policy;
  • Undertake administrative requirements;
  • Work collaboratively with families and the school community.

 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

  • Completed (or close to completion) of relevant qualifications in Childcare or Teaching (Minimum of Diploma in Children Services);
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting with programming and a passion for providing quality childcare;
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining effective administration and correct documentation in an OSHC service;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain;
  • Certificate of Suitability to work with Children and Young People (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain.
  • NQF knowledge would be advantageous.
