Y Schools Queensland are recruiting a Senior Practice Lead to join the team on a Permanent, Full-Time basis based in Fortitude Valley
Y Schools Queensland Wellbeing Services aim to improve young people’s access and engagement with education through developing mental wellbeing. We achieve this through the provision of best practice individualised support pathways, including psychological intervention, counselling and case management support. In addition, we deliver evidence-based wellbeing group programs, both proactive and developmentally focused, that meet the needs of children and young people.
About the role
As the Senior Practice Lead at Y Schools Queensland, you will provide specialist leadership across social work, casework and complex case management
This role leads professional practice, supervision and quality standards, supporting consistent approaches to assessment, case planning, family engagement, complex case management, advocacy and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Working within the THRIVE Framework, the role promotes trauma-aware, culturally safe and evidence-informed practice that supports student safety, engagement, participation and access to education.
What will my time look like?
Social Work and Case Management Practice Leadership
- Provide functional professional leadership, consultation, structured professional supervision and coaching to Case Workers and appropriately qualified social work practitioners across Y Schools Queensland.
Professional Supervision and Practitioner Capability
- Design and coordinate a documented professional supervision model, including supervision agreements, frequency, records, confidentiality boundaries and escalation expectations.
Professional Practice Governance and Quality Assurance
- Lead scheduled and risk-based reviews of psychosocial assessments, case records, case plans, referrals, consent, interagency coordination, review, transition and closure practices.
- Monitor adherence to approved practice standards and report material non-compliance, recurring risks, service gaps and recommended corrective actions to the Head of Wellbeing.
THRIVE, Inclusion and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead the psychosocial, family, systems and case-management components of the THRIVE Framework and support consistent implementation across campuses.
- Work with Teaching and Learning, Inclusion, Pathways, Wellbeing and campus leadership so case-management responses address barriers to education and integrate with educational planning.
Am I a good match?
- AASW-accredited tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Minimum three years' relevant post-qualification social work experience, including substantial work with adolescents, families, complex case management and multiagency systems.
- Formal professional-supervision training and demonstrated experience supervising social workers and/or case-management practitioners; AASW Accredited Supervisor credential preferred.
- Demonstrated competence in psychosocial assessment, family engagement, complex case conferencing, advocacy, referral systems, case review and closure.
- Current Blue Card, National Police Check, First Aid and CPR, and willingness to travel between campuses.
