We are recruiting for a Safeguarding Manager on a Permanent, Full-Time to join our team based in Fortitude Valley, QLD.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The YMCA is looking for a proactive, experienced, and outcomes-focussed professional to manage and oversee our safeguarding system. As part of the role, you will also be required to support our staff by providing advice on incidents and concerns, developing, and implementing procedures and supporting resources, developing, and delivering training, and auditing the safeguarding practices in our programs and services to help inform our continuous improvement. 

Responsibilities included (but not limited to):

    • Manage the YMCA’s compliance with relevant safeguarding legislation and regulations.
    • Provide expertise and positively role model safeguarding practices to enable the continuous growth of the YMCA’s safeguarding capability.
    • Actively promote learning and safeguarding initiatives and contribute to the development of effective tools that will enhance the quality and integration of safeguarding programming throughout the organisation.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to the continuous improvement of the collective Safeguarding function of YMCA Brisbane and the National YMCA Movement
    • Develop, deliver, and coordinate on-line and face-to-face training programs to support YMCA Peoples learning and development.
    • Participate and contribute productively as a team member to form culturally appropriate, professional working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, including children, young people and families, other not-for-profit organisations, and service providers.
    • Support the effective Governance of the YMCA
    • Responsible for the performance of all YMCA Safeguarding staff
    • Oversee staff rostering to ensure appropriate and efficient staff
    • Actively advocate for and/or participate in community activities and/or campaigns which promote community-wide awareness of the rights of Children and Young People

 

SELECTION CRITERIA 

 

  • Minimum Bachelor qualification relevant to work in the field of child safety, such as social work, human services, social welfare, or psychology.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in the preparation and delivery of training programs to staff teams.
  •  Demonstrated understanding of the Child Protection Act and Mandatory Reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  •  Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal and customer liaison skills.
  • Proven ability to advise, mentor and communicate with influence.
  • Demonstrated strong investigative and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated strong organisational abilities, prioritisation skills and records management.
  •  Demonstrated ability to use monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Possession of a current positive notice Blue Card.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
