The YMCA operates a number of services including Child Care, health and fitness, education, outdoor education and camping, accommodation and hospitality along with benevolent activities including the YMCA Vocational School and the Schools' Breakfast program.

 

POSITION
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our payroll and HR team, on a full time, fixed term contract for 12 months with potential to move to permanent. 

 

Reporting to the HR Manager and working alongside the existing Payroll Officer, this position will support will provide accurate and timely processing, coordination and maintenance of the YMCA’s Payroll services to support our existing team.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE: 


Working collaboratively within a small team, the position supports will be required to:

  • Provide accurate and timely payroll services including end-to-end volume payroll processing, end of month payroll balancing & reporting, end of year payroll balancing & reporting including Single Touch Payroll reconciliation.
  • Complete employment changes and requests such as new hires, terminations, adjustments and classifications changes.
  • Respond to managers and employees on payroll related queries in a professional and customer-focused manner, via phone and email.
  •  Maintain and update personnel data in our payroll and Time and Attendance databases, to ensure systems reflect current information.
  •  Review employment contracts to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and industrial (Tax compliance, superannuation etc);
  • Updating and maintaining Payroll and HR records including general administration, filing and archiving, ensuring confidentiality and privacy of files at all times.
  • Assist the HR team with provision of payroll related information conduct payroll audits to ensure accuracy of data and generating reports as required.

 

Selection Criteria


To be successful in the role, you will be able to meet the following criteria:

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Payroll Officer in a high volume environment in large organisations. 
  • A solid understanding of legislation, taxation and superannuation as they relate to payroll processing activities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Industrial Award’s and Enterprise Agreements.
  • An aptitude for systems with experience with Payroll and time and attendance systems (preferably TimeTarget and Micropay). 
  • Exceptional numerical ability and data entry skills, strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • A strong customer service ethos and ability to work across multiple industries and support staff from diverse industries.
  • Previous experience working with Success Factors would be advantageous
