Y Queensland Head Office is recruiting a Payroll Officer on a Permanent Full-Time basis to join our team located in Fortitude Valley

About the role

As the Payroll Officer, you will support the Senior Payroll Officer and have the shared responsibility of an efficient and timely end-to-end processing of a fortnightly payroll for the YMCA of Brisbane and Y-Care (Southeast Queensland) Inc.

You will be assisting staff members with payroll enquiries, administering HR Information systems and assisting with system configuration as required.

 

What will my time look like?

  • Undertake required reporting, both internal and statutory reporting as required
  • Provide accurate and timely processing and coordination of the YMCA and Y-Care payroll function
  • Co-ordination of the end-to-end processing of fortnightly payroll(s) for both associations
  • Assist in comprehensive annual payroll audits to ensure accuracy and correctness of data
  • Calculation of termination payments (resignation/retirement/redundancy)
  • Process salary increases, bonuses and calculation of back pays as required
  • Data Entry of all payroll data from the salary packaging provider i.e. reportable fringe benefits and superannuation
  • Assist in the running of end of FBT and end of Financial Year processes
  • Assist with Company Benefit programs e.g. superannuation, salary sacrifice, additional tax and accommodation as required
  • Administration and calculation of all superannuation contributions, charity and garnishee payments

 

Am I a good match?

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a payroll function, preferably in a NFP
  • Competence and experience in the use of payroll packages and software, MS Office software and time and attendance systems
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant Industrial Acts, Superannuation Guarantee Legislation, Awards and Agreements
  • Highly effective time management skills including the ability to plan, organise and stay on task
  • Demonstrated experience with maintaining a HRIS or database
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution skills
  • Capacity to consistently demonstrate a high level of initiative, attention to detail as well as the ability to analyse and report on results
  • Proven consistency in making sound decisions by working collaboratively with other staff as well as utilising and analysing available information, knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Currently, or be willing to obtain, a positive notice Blue Card in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000
  • Achievement of YMCA’s Safeguarding Children Training Certificate (and complete annual refresher training)
