Y Schools Queensland are recruiting a dedicated Head of Wellbeing on a Permanent Full-Time basis to join our team
The Head of Wellbeing is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team at Y Schools Queensland and is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all wellbeing, safeguarding, and student support services across all campuses. The role ensures the delivery of a consistent, high-quality, and compliant wellbeing model, aligned with the Principal’s direction, legislative requirements, and organisational priorities.
Leading a multi-disciplinary team, this role provides integrated oversight of counselling, casework, youth work, and wellbeing services to ensure every student is supported to engage, learn, and thrive.
What will my time look like?
Strategic Wellbeing Leadership
- Lead the development, implementation, and system-wide oversight of a whole-school approach to wellbeing across all campus approach to wellbeing that is grounded in current research and, evidence-based framework
- Embed trauma-aware, restorative, and inclusive practices into all wellbeing functions, in partnership with Head of Teaching & Learning for pedagogy integration and Head of Inclusion for adjustments.
Clinical and Therapeutic Oversight
- Lead the counselling and therapeutic support strategy, including early intervention, mental health crisis and postvention response.
- Oversee the consistent implementation and continuous improvement of case work and counselling practice frameworks, ensuring alignment with the THRIVE Framework and the school’s broader strategic goals.
Youthwork Framework Leadership and Development
- Provide expert leadership to Senior Youth Worker Leaders in the delivery of trauma-aware, strengths-based, and relational youth work practices.
- Oversee the consistent implementation and continuous improvement of the Youth Work Framework and Wellbeing Framework ensuring alignment with the THRIVE Framework and the school’s broader strategic goals.
Campus Implementation and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead and work in partnership with Heads of School and Campus to ensure consistent, high-quality implementation of wellbeing practices across all campuses.
Operational Leadership
- Oversee the operational delivery of all wellbeing services across campuses, including staffing allocation, service models, and resource prioritisation
Staffing Capability and Professional Learning
- Oversee the development and delivery of professional learning for staff aligned to trauma-informed, restorative, and inclusive practices, including the effective implementation and embedding of the THRIVE Framework across all campuses.
Am I a good match?
- Tertiary qualification in behavioural science, psychology, social work, youth work, education, Counselling or a related field
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Current National Police Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites or campuses, including allied health, youth work, and/or education professionals. Education Experience is highly desirable
- Significant experience in student support, counselling, casework, and/or crisis intervention, preferably within education or youth engagement settings
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build and sustain effective relationships with students, families, staff, and external agencies
- Strong alignment with Y Queensland values and a commitment to inclusive, student-centred practice
