Y Queensland People and Culture Team are recruiting for an Employment and Industrial Relations Specialist, on a Full-Time Fixed-Term (12 months) basis to join our team located in Fortitude Valley.
About the role
As an Employment and Industrial Relations Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and resolving employee relations and industrial relations matters, while ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws, and supporting the development of a positive and productive workplace culture. This role will focus on key employment relations and industrial relations areas such as performance management, workplace investigations, fostering employee engagement, enterprise agreement (consultations, bargaining and implementation), and award interpretation.
What will my time look like?
- Provide guidance and support to managers, through performance management processes, including performance reviews, coaching, and improvement plans.
- Support managers in addressing performance issues through proactive interventions, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
- Monitor trends in performance management and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Provide expert advice on industrial relations issues, including disputes, awards, enterprise agreements, and compliance with relevant legislation.
- Ensure all ER and IR activities comply with relevant employment laws, regulations, and best practices
- Assist in the design and implementation of employee feedback programs (e.g., surveys, focus groups), and analyse results to recommend actions that will drive positive change

- Demonstrated experience in managing ER and IR matters.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian employment law (or relevant jurisdiction) and industrial relations frameworks.
- Strong investigative skills, with the ability to gather information and analyse situations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficient in handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly with documents relating to an investigation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
