Y Schools Queensland are recruiting a Deputy Principal on a Permanent Full-Time basis to join our team based in Fortitude Valley
As a Deputy Principal with Y Schools Queensland, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight across a group of campuses within Y Schools Queensland. Reporting to the Executive Principal, this role leads and supports Heads of School in delivering operational excellence, ensuring high-quality education, wellbeing, and pathways outcomes across all sites in the region.
What will my time look like?
Strategic and Operational Leadership
- Provides strategic leadership across multiple campuses in the region, ensuring alignment and consistency, rather than managing daily campus operations.
- Contribute to strategic planning discussions with the principal, providing campus-level insights to inform system-wide decision-making
Leadership of Heads of School
- Line manages and coach Heads of School to ensure operational excellence and educational impact.
- Support Heads of School in workforce planning, recruitment approvals, and succession planning.
School Performance and Improvement
- Monitor data, identify trends, and provide strategic guidance to Heads of School to address performance priorities
Workforce Capability and Development
- Drive implementation of professional learning strategies, leadership pipelines, and talent development plans.
- Co-lead succession planning with Executive Principal and support talent identification across campuses
Compliance, Systems and Processes
- Oversee campus-level operational compliance, including NCCD, enrolment audits, and school reviews.
- Ensure campus systems align with school policy, regulatory standards, and the THRIVE model.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Support Heads of School in maintaining strong community and parent partnerships.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Champion fidelity to the THRIVE model and support staff to innovate within that framework.
- Promote reflective practice and continuous improvement in all areas of school operations.
Am I a good match?
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Education
- Postgraduate qualification in Educational Leadership (desirable)
- Significant experience leading in a multi-campus or complex school setting
- Deep understanding of trauma-informed, inclusive, and flexible education
- Demonstrated understanding of compliance frameworks, and funding models relevant to Special Assistance Schools
- Experience in negotiating with Community Groups.
- Proven ability to lead teams through change, improvement and growth
- Experience in developing staff capability and leading performance conversations
- Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills and the ability to use those to influence the educational agenda for disengaged young people.
- Demonstrated ability to manage effectively human and physical resources to deliver high quality organisational outcomes.
