YMCA Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) services care for children before school, after school and during holidays across 50+ school sites throughout South East Queensland. We are the fastest growing OSHC provider in the South East which in turn provides our staff with the ability to grow and move through the company as their careers head to the next level.


ABOUT THE WORKSPACE

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Educational Leader at our YMCA Calamvale Outside School Hours Care service on a permanent, part time basis.

YMCA Calamvale Outside School Hours Care is located at Calamvale Community College which is an independent Public School with over 2000 students from Prep to Year 12.  The service is licensed for 60 children per day and operates from 6.00am to 9.00am in the morning and 3.00pm to 6.00pm in the afternoon during school terms.  We also operation during school holidays for Vacation Care (6.00am to 6.00pm).

The service has access to multi-functional rooms and playground area offering a wide range of fun, stimulating and diverse programs that reflect real world experiences and home settings. This helps encourage a sense of community amongst our children, facilitates leadership skill development and allow children to practice social skills in a supported and caring environment.

Programs and activities are aligned with the YMCA Mission – to provide opportunities for children to grow in body, mind and spirit – underpinned by our values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. We blend this philosophy with the National Quality Framework ‘My Time Our Place’ and the School’s educational principles to develop appropriate, engaging and most of all FUN activities for your child whilst in our care.

 

ABOUT THE POSITION    

This position will lead the development and implementation of the education program by promoting children’s well-being, development and learning by helping the children develop values, attitudes and ways of living and learning.

The responsibilities of an Educational Leader also include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead the development and implementation of the educational program and assessment with the support of Assistant Coordinator/Coordinator
  • Ensure children’s learning and development informs the design of the educational program, and Educators facilitate and extend each child’s learning and development
  • Liaise effectively with parents, staff and all internal and external stakeholders
  • Make recommendations for improvements to Educators’ educational programs and practices
  • Mentor and support Educators understanding of the educational program and practice including how to reflect on the effectiveness of their programs, interactions, intentional teaching and other strategies
  • Ensure compliance with policy
  • Undertake administrative requirements
  • Work collaboratively with families and the school community 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA    

  • A Diploma in Children’s Services or equivalent and demonstrated experience in Early Childhood Education
  • Minimum three years’ experience in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the approved learning framework;
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of child development, attachment, learning
  • A demonstrated understanding of evidence-based best practice approaches to teaching and learning
  • Working knowledge of leadership theory and the use of a range of leadership styles
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyse and challenge conventional practice and ideas
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Currently possess, or be willing to obtain a Blue Card
