George Williams Hotel are currently recruiting a Handyperson on a Permanent Part-Time to join our team based in Brisbane CBD.


ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of a Handyperson is responsible for the daily maintenance tasks required at George Williams Hotel. This position will also undertake preventative maintenance programs for all areas of the operation to effective minimize any operational downtime and loss of revenue.

The responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Program and implement plans and schedules for effective maintenance and preventive maintenance of YMCA Hotel facilities, plant and equipment
  • Undertake minor works and repairs at all George Williams Hotel operations
  • Ensure orderly arrangements for basement car parking and proper presentation of car park area and building entrances
  • Undertake general labouring duties as directed
  • Undertake janitorial functions in building common areas and on all floors
  • Assist Housekeeping staff with the distribution and removal of linen and rubbish to and from accommodation floors
  • Assist conferencing staff with the moving of chairs and tables for conferencing requirements
     

SELECTION CRITERIA

The successful candidate will portray the selection criteria:

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar role within the Hospitality Industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of cleaning equipment and use and application of cleaning products
  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance facilities for commercial multi-storey buildings
  • Ability to handle maintenance queries, complaints and situations in a professional manner
  • Exceptional organization, prioritization, communication and customer service skills
  • Capable of operating effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours as determined by the business requirements
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification; or willingness to obtain
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a National Police Check and a new certificate bi-yearly
