Y Queensland People and Cultruen Team are recruiting for a HR System Project Manager on a Fixed-Term Full-Time (12 months) basis to join our team located in Fortitude Valley
About the role
As an HR System Project Manager here at the Y, you will lead the implementation of a new payroll, time & attendance system and support the organisation’s broader digital transformation across People & Culture. A key deliverable of this role will be the end-to-end delivery of a major HR technology project, working closely with payroll, P&C, IT, vendors, and stakeholders across the organisation. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will manage the planning, selection, implementation, and optimisation of the Payroll/HRIS platform. You will ensure the system is fit for purpose, adopted effectively, and aligned with operational and workforce needs.
What will my time look like?
Project Management & Implementation
- Lead the Payroll/HRIS implementation project within agreed scope, timelines, and milestones.
- Assist with market assessment, vendor evaluation, and system selection.
- Oversee system configuration, testing, data migration, and integrations.
- Coordinate with external vendors and internal IT teams to ensure technical alignment and data security.
Change & Stakeholder Management
- Drive change management and user adoption activities.
- Lead communication, engagement, and training for end users.
- Develop user guides, training materials, and transition resources.
- Build strong relationships across departments to identify and resolve issues.
System Support & Continuous Improvement
- Provide first-level support to HRIS and payroll users post-implementation.
- Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements.
- Maintain system documentation, including process maps and change logs.
- Support reporting, data analysis, HR metrics, and compliance reporting.
Collaboration & Strategic Support
- Partner with the Chief People Officer to ensure systems support workforce planning and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to broader People & Culture digital transformation initiatives.
- Ensure confidentiality and integrity of payroll and employee data.
Am I a good match?
- Proven experience implementing payroll and/or HRIS systems end-to-end.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, HR systems, Award interpretation and compliance.
- Demonstrated project management experience with multiple stakeholders and vendors.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A practical, people-centred approach to system implementation and change
- National Police Check within 6 months
