About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Cook to join our YMCA Acacia Ridge Early Education Centre on a permanent part time basis to prepare quality, nutritious meals for our children and support the YMCA's mission to provide opportunities for all people to grow in body, mind and spirit.

What you’ll do

  • Provide nutritional meals as per Nutrition Policy in consultation with the Director and within budget
  • Prepare and store food as per Food Handling Policy
  • Use appropriate documentation and recording methods as set out in the Centres food safety plan
  • Ensure cleanliness of all surfaces and equipment
  • Liaise effectively with parents and staff under the supervision of the Director
  • Order and receive stock on an ‘as required’ basis and ensure that adequate stock control and reporting measures are in place
  • Monitor diets of special needs children and liaise with the Director, parents and staff regarding their needs.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • Current Nutritional Planning and Food Handling qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience cooking in a childcare centre or similar environment
  • Ability to modify meals for special dietary requirements, e.g. gluten free and vegetarian diets
  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and self-directed under limited supervision
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to handle queries, complaints and any difficult situations which may arise in a professional manner​​​​​​
  • Current Blue Card, National Police Check, First Aid and CPR qualifications (or willingness to obtain)
